Lake Huron Ice

These photos were taken at an old shipping port north of Alpena, Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron on February 15, 2009. A week's warm spell had just passed, melting ice off the shore in amazing formations. The ice had broken into countless pieces and looked more like plate of glass. This ranks as one of the top five most amazing landscapes I've ever seen. ~ Brian McWilliams
